Joachim Lingner

Joachim Lingner is a Full Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) since 2009. He previously held positions as Associate Professor (2005–2008), Senior group leader (2002), and Junior group leader (1997–2001) at EPFL and ISREC, Switzerland. He completed his PhD at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel (1989–1992) and postdoctoral work at HHMI, University of Colorado at Boulder (1993–1997).

• Research Focus: Telomeres, telomerase, genome stability, DNA repair, oxidative stress, RNA biology, and aging.
• Key Discoveries: Discovery of the catalytic subunit of telomerase (1993–1997), identification of TERRA (telomeric long noncoding RNA), and mechanisms of telomerase regulation.
• Technologies Developed: Telomeric chromatin analysis protocols to study telomere protein composition and dynamics.
