Jo Marie Reilly

Jo Marie Reilly, MD, MPH is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Population and Public Health Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She serves as Director of the Primary Care Initiative, Associate Director of the Introduction to Clinical Medicine Course, and Family Medicine Pre-Doctoral Director. Her roles include leadership in the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine’s Bioethics and Humanities Interest Group and editorial board memberships for journals like Family Medicine and Family Systems and Health.

Dr. Reilly holds a medical degree from Georgetown University and completed residency training at Kaiser Permanente Family Residency Program in Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship in women’s health at White Memorial Family Practice. She has dedicated over 13 years to faculty roles in family medicine.

Her research focuses on medical education innovation, primary care workforce development, physician well-being, and care for underserved populations. She has pioneered programs addressing geriatric care, narrative medicine, and interprofessional education. Her recent work examines nutrition education, addiction medicine training, and community-based interventions for older adults.

Her notable awards include the 2016 American Academy of Family Physicians Program of Excellence Award and the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the Keck School of Medicine Class of 2016. She actively contributes to policy discussions on healthcare equity and medical student career pathways.

Her educational initiatives include the Primary Care Senior Seminar and the Age-Friendly Students Senior Connection Program. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve healthcare access and train the next generation of primary care physicians. Dr. Reilly’s work bridges clinical practice, education, and community engagement to address systemic healthcare challenges.
