Jo Hoje is the Gerald and Bonita Wilkinson Professor of Finance at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. He has held this position since 1990, serving as Chair of the Finance Department from 2011 to 2014. His academic journey includes a BA in Chinese Literature from Seoul National University, followed by an MBA and PhD in Finance from SUNY Buffalo and the University of Florida, respectively.
Dr. Jo's research focuses on corporate finance, international finance, venture capital, entrepreneurial finance, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). His work explores intersections between CSR and financial performance, environmental sustainability, ethical investing, and governance structures. He has published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics.
His awards include the Moskowitz Prize (2009) for socially responsible investing research and the 1999 Korean Chamber of Commerce 'Professional Man of the Year' honor. Notable contributions span topics like ESG ratings, climate risk pricing, and the impact of employee-friendly practices on innovation.
Jo actively engages with Santa Clara University initiatives, including the Center of Applied Ethics and Korean Student Association. His community roles emphasize bridging academic research with practical business ethics and global sustainability challenges.
