Dr. Jo Burzynska is an Artist-Researcher affiliated with Lincoln University, specializing in multidisciplinary work at the intersection of art and science. Her research focuses on multisensory connections between sound and chemical senses, employing empirical methodologies alongside creative practices. She has developed expanded listening techniques and works in multisensory experience design.
Her career includes roles as a wine critic and collaborations with scientists in sensory science and cognitive psychology. Key achievements include the 2023 Zonta Ashburton Female Art Awards Premier Award for her installation Mechanised Quarter. Her work explores nonvisual sensory engagement, as seen in exhibitions like Osmologies and Bass Affects.
