Professor Jo Adams is a Visiting Professor of Musculoskeletal Health at the University of Southampton’s Faculty of Health Sciences, serving as Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy. She holds dual roles as NIHR Health Professional National Research Mentor and PPI National Lead for the Arthritis Research UK Centre of Excellence. With a career spanning over 30 years, she has led £20m+ in applied clinical research grants, focusing on musculoskeletal rehabilitation, digital interventions, and patient-centered care.
Education: PhD, MSc, and DipCOT. Teaching spans undergraduate/postgraduate levels, with expertise in inter-professional education and research methods. Her research emphasizes translational science, bridging evidence-based practice and clinical implementation. Key projects include the OTTER trial (thumb osteoarthritis splints), MOTH digital interventions for long-term conditions, and EULAR guidelines for post-fracture rehabilitation.
