Jo Adams is a Research Fellow at the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research (VVMCRHR), part of the La Trobe Rural Health School at La Trobe University. Her work focuses on rural health equity, climate change impacts, and aging populations. She holds a PhD in Public Health from La Trobe University (2013–2020), alongside advanced qualifications in Health Sciences and Environmental Health.
Her research explores intersections between climate change and health, benefits of nature engagement, palliative care, and health literacy. Notable projects include studies on climate resilience in neurodiverse/multicultural/older populations and mobile breast screening access for rural elderly women. She actively participates in committees like the Campaspe Environmental Water Advisory Group and reviews for journals like Psycho-Oncology.
Teaching contributions include interprofessional practice modules (HLT1IPP), research methodologies (HLT1RAE), and health determinants courses since 2011. She co-leads initiatives like the Rural Health Consumer Panel to improve rural health outcomes through community engagement.
