Jiyong Hong is Professor of Chemistry with secondary appointment in Pharmacology and Cancer Biology at Duke University. He received his PhD from The Scripps Research Institute (2001), MS and BS from Seoul National University.
His research employs chemical tools and small molecules to investigate signaling pathways for developing therapeutics targeting fungal infections, cancer, and pain management. Current projects include LpxH inhibitors for antibiotic-resistant bacteria and Rev1 inhibitors for cancer therapy.
Hong has active NIH funding for antimicrobial drug discovery and mentors graduate students in medicinal chemistry.
