Dr. Jittima Weerachayaphorn is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yale School of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine. Her research focuses on calcium signaling pathways, bile acid homeostasis, and cellular responses in liver diseases. She holds a PhD from the University of Texas Medical Branch (2007) and advanced degrees from Mahidol University (MSc 2001, BSN 1995).
- Education:
- PhD in Physiology, University of Texas Medical Branch (2007)
- MSc in Nursing, Mahidol University (2001)
- BSN in Nursing, Mahidol University (1995)
Her research interests include the role of inositol trisphosphate receptors in cholangiocytes, NF-E2-related factor 2 (NRF2) regulation of bile transporters, and molecular mechanisms underlying cholestasis and cholangiocarcinoma. Recent work explores neutrophil-cholangiocyte interactions in alcoholic hepatitis and the effects of endotoxin on liver cells.
Publications highlight contributions to understanding calcium signaling in liver pathophysiology and drug-induced liver injury. Collaborations include studies on oltipraz toxicity, andrographolide hepatoprotection, and cyclic AMP-regulated gene expression in hepatocytes.
No scientific awards are explicitly listed, but her extensive publication record reflects sustained research excellence. She advises no listed students but collaborates with prominent teams in hepatology and cell signaling.
