معرفی
Professor Jirí Patera is a faculty member at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Montreal. His research focuses on cryptography, mathematical theory of quasicrystals, symmetries in physics, and Fourier analysis on Lie groups applied to tele-detection. He has led multiple research projects funded by agencies such as CRSNG and FRQNT, including studies on Fourier transforms on lattices and information fusion algorithms. Notable awards include the 1991 Killam Fellowship and an honorary doctorate from Czech Technical University.
Research expertise spans algebraic structures in physics, quasicrystal-based cryptographic systems, and applications of group theory. He has supervised over 15 PhD and Master’s students since 1992, with recent advisees including Mariia Myronova (2021) and Zofia Grabowiecka (2020). Key projects include a 2016–2023 CRSNG-funded initiative on multidimensional lattice Fourier transforms and a MITACS collaboration on maritime domain awareness via deep learning.
- Major grants: CRM Strategic Regroupement (2015–2023), MITACS Acceleration (2020), OODA Technologies partnerships (2018–2019)
- Labs/Teams: Active contributor to the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques (CRM) and interdisciplinary groups in mathematical physics
