Jip Leendertse

Dr. Jip Leendertse is a researcher and lecturer at Utrecht University's Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, specifically within the Innovation Studies department. His work focuses on sustainable entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, energy transitions, and institutional entrepreneurship.

Leendertse's research examines sustainable start-ups through both ecosystem and firm-level perspectives. He investigates how entrepreneurial ecosystems in Europe foster sustainable innovation and how technology characteristics mediate trade-offs between climate impact and business performance. His work also explores how actors like incubators shape regional regulations and societal values.

Jip Leendertse's scholarly output centers on sustainable entrepreneurship, institutional change, and socio-technical transitions. His 2022 Research Policy paper on entrepreneurial ecosystem metrics synthesized findings across 5 conference abstracts that explore geographic and institutional factors influencing sustainable start-up success.
