Jinhwa Chang is a Lecturer in Japanese at Mount Holyoke College, where she contributes to the Department of Asian Studies. She previously taught at Grinnell College and Williams College, bringing extensive experience in Japanese language education across institutions in the United States and Japan.
- Education: A.B.D. and M.A. from Waseda University, B.S. and B.A. from Kyungpook National University.
Her expertise centers on Japanese language pedagogy and applied linguistics, informed by her academic background in Japanese and silk agriculture from South Korea, graduate studies in Tokyo, and interdisciplinary work in language education.
Chang was awarded a Special Covid-19 Relief Grant by the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, to support the development of Japanese teaching materials. Her career spans 17 years in Tokyo followed by trans-Pacific teaching engagements.
