Jingyi Zhang is an Assistant Professor at the School of Music, James Madison University, specializing in global opera, transcultural exchanges, and decolonial practices. With a Ph.D. from Harvard University (2025), she explores intersections of racial identity, media technology, and transpacific networks in 19th-21st century music.

She teaches courses on 21st-century opera, Western music history, and multimedia dramaturgy, emphasizing marginalized voices and anti-colonial frameworks.
