Jinan Abi Jumaa is a researcher in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, actively pursuing her PhD on self-help/empowerment-based services and Primary Health Care (PHC) for refugees. She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and focuses on ensuring positive health outcomes for refugee populations through culturally sensitive research.
Her primary research areas include refugee studies, public and mental health, violence against women (VAW), equality and equity, integration, and migration. She investigates cultural differences in refugees' settlement experiences across Europe and has previously documented violence faced by refugee women during Middle Eastern migration routes. Her advocacy extends to women's rights, emphasizing gender-based health disparities and equitable service access.
This research trajectory demonstrates a consistent commitment to addressing systemic barriers in refugee healthcare, particularly through mental health frameworks and PHC models tailored to displaced communities' unique needs.
