Jin Kim Montclare

Jin Kim Montclare is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering. She leads the Montclare Lab for Protein Engineering and Design, focusing on creating engineered proteins for biomedical applications, including drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and nanomaterials. Her research integrates chemical biology, biomaterials, and protein engineering to develop sustainable solutions for human health and environmental challenges.

Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Fordham University (1997)
• Master of Science and Ph.D. in Bioorganic Chemistry, Yale University (2001–2003)

Research Interests: Protein engineering, chemical biology, biomaterials, self-assembly, artificial proteins, biocatalysis, and sustainability. Her lab designs protein-based hydrogels, nanomaterials, and drug delivery systems for applications in wound healing, cancer therapy, and chemical defense.

Recent Contributions: Recent work includes protein-engineered hydrogels for skincare, exosome delivery in diabetic wound healing, and enzyme engineering for chemical warfare agent detoxification. These innovations highlight her lab’s focus on translational biomedical engineering.
