Dr. Jin Goh is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Department of Psychology. His research focuses on social cognition and perception, particularly exploring topics like racial dynamics, gender stereotypes, and intergroup relations. Prior to joining UIC in 2024, he held an assistant professorship at Colby College and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington.
Education: He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Psychology (Social & Personality) from Northeastern University and a B.A. in Psychology from Bard College.
Research Interests: Dr. Goh examines how social categories (e.g., race, gender) shape perceptions and judgments. His work addresses issues such as stereotypes, intergroup conflict, and the societal implications of cognitive biases. For instance, he investigates how racialized names influence gender perceptions and how Asian Americans’ support for affirmative action is underestimated.
