Dr. Jims Ningshen Marchang is a Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity at the Department of Computing, School of Computing and Digital Technologies, Sheffield Hallam University. He serves as Research Co-Lead for Technological and Digital Innovations to Promote Independent Lives at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) and leads the iSec CyberNet research group. His expertise spans IoT/IoMT security, blockchain systems, and privacy-preserving technologies for autonomous systems and healthcare devices.
Education: PhD in Cybersecurity from the CSCAN Research Laboratory, University of Plymouth, UK. He has held roles as Course Leader for BSc Cybersecurity (2017–2020), external examiner at Winchester and Plymouth Universities, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
Research focuses on securing resource-constrained networks, smart healthcare systems, and robotic autonomy. He leads projects funded by EPSRC, Sheffield Innovation, and UK-RAS networks, collaborating with industry partners like IBM and academic institutions such as the University of Warwick and Manchester.

He supervises PhD students in IoT security, blockchain applications, and assistive robotics. His work includes developing secure IoT testbeds and LoRAWAN gateways at SHU. He is also an author of two books on cybersecurity and penetration testing.
