Jimmy Fazzino is a Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Maine. He holds a PhD in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz (2012) and a BA in English and French from Tulane University (2003, with honors). His research focuses on 20th-21st-century American literature, the Beat Generation, avant-garde/counterculture movements, and transnational literatures. Fazzino’s scholarship explores intersections of literature with critical theory, modernism, and global cultural dynamics.
His publications include World Beats: Beat Generation Writing and the Worlding of U.S. Literature (2016) and peer-reviewed articles on William Burroughs, Amiri Baraka, and Beat poetics. His work often examines how Beat writers engaged with decolonization, postcolonial politics, and transnational networks. Courses taught include 'Road Novels,' 'Modernism and Manifestos,' and 'Shakespeare.' Fazzino’s academic contributions highlight the global dimensions of American literary movements.
