Jimena Rodríguez

Jimena N. Rodríguez is a Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she has been since 2012. Her research focuses on Colonial Literature, Historical Fiction, and Transatlantic Cultural Exchange, with a particular interest in travel narratives and their rhetorical frameworks.

• Research Interests: Colonial literature, historical fiction, maritime exploration, archival practices, and postcolonial identity discourse.
• Projects: Compilation of Hernán Cortés' expedition to Las Hibueras and digital lecture series The Sea and Its Metaphors.

She is deeply committed to empowering first-generation students, serving as Faculty Advisor for UCLA's 1st Gen Latinx Community group and teaching courses that explore identity formation through oral history and visual storytelling.
