Dr. Jim Rowley is affiliated with Coventry University's College of Engineering, Environment and Computing. He has over three decades of experience in designing and optimizing systems across automotive, aerospace, and agricultural sectors. His research focuses on automation, manufacturing processes, and supply chain efficiency. He holds an Engineering Doctorate from the University of Warwick for developing an automated mushroom harvesting system combining robotics and machine vision.
His professional roles include leading the Operations Management and Simulation Research Team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (Coventry, UK) and serving as Policies Manager at the Institute of Logistics and Transport. He has advised UK government bodies and blue-chip companies on capital expenditure and logistics strategies.
Key projects include S-CONTACCT (automotive manufacturing optimization), CASIM2 (advanced simulation for manufacturing), and AMSCA (corrosion-resistant coating innovation). His work bridges technology development and industrial application, emphasizing automation, big data, and sustainable practices.
