Jim Reid is a Reader in Education and Director of the Huddersfield Centre for Research in Education and Society (HudCRES) at the University of Huddersfield, School of Business, Education and Law. He is actively involved in research, supervision, and international collaborations, including a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with East Marsh United and projects funded by the National Research Foundation in South Africa and the AHRC. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Leverhulme International Research Fellow.
Research Interests: His work is deeply rooted in social justice, the ethic of care, children's wellbeing, and educational equity. He explores themes such as family capabilities, voice, reflexivity, and the ethical dimensions of school inspection. His research often employs qualitative and narrative methods, with a focus on uncovering lived experiences and promoting social change.
The recent publications reflect a strong trajectory in public health interventions through education, particularly in global contexts like Zambia. His work on 'Life-Saving Lullabies' and family care models demonstrates interdisciplinary engagement across education, public health, and cultural heritage.
