Jim O'Connell

Jim O'Connell is an Associate Professor in Arts Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he teaches courses including Introduction to Arts Management, Arts Management Seminar, and Arts Management Capstone: Externship. A Dartmouth College alumnus with an AB in Drama/Government and an MA in Arts Management from UW-Madison's Bolz Center, he has over two decades of executive experience in arts organizations prior to his academic career.

His research focuses on leadership in arts management, classroom identity affirmation, and performance venue lifecycle planning. As a practitioner, he has led workshops on arts budgeting, programming, and facility management for national organizations.

Recent publications include presentations on entrepreneurial university models and resource management in arts organizations. Notable awards include the Michael Goldberg Leadership Award and multiple community recognition honors.
