Jim Harper

Jim Harper is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). His research integrates comparative physiology, aging biology, and interdisciplinary collaborations to explore cellular and organismal mechanisms.

• Education: BS in Biology from SUNY Geneseo, PhD in Zoology from the University of Michigan.
• Current Research: Focuses on life history evolution, nutrition, and aging in speckled cockroaches; effects of plasticizing agents on physiological function; and physiological/genetic correlates of human behaviors.
• Collaborations: Works with Dr. Jeff Wozniak on osmoregulation in blue crabs and interdisciplinary genetic/immunological factors in mental health.
