Jim Barge

Jim Barge is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he has taught since 2015. His clinical and academic work focuses on cognitive-communication disorders, particularly right hemisphere dysfunction and neurogenic speech impairments.

Barge’s research explores the intersection of auditory stimulation and neurological rehabilitation, with a specific emphasis on stroke recovery and left neglect syndrome. His clinical expertise bridges theoretical neuroscience with practical speech-language pathology interventions.

His 2019 case study on auditory stimulation for left neglect syndrome demonstrates his commitment to experimental methodologies in neurorehabilitation. Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining cognitive science and clinical practice.

As a member of the Institutional Biosafety Committee and Diversity Task Force, Barge contributes to institutional governance while maintaining active involvement in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and its Neurophysiology Special Interest Group.
