Jim Andrus

Jim Andrus serves as the Associate Instructor of the Tuba studio at the University of Utah, concurrently holding principal tuba positions with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra and Colorado Ballet Orchestra. His professional engagements include performances with the Utah Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Denver Brass.

His academic credentials feature a Master of Music from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Utah. In 2018, he served as Principal Tuba at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute in Whistler, British Columbia.

Specializing in tuba performance and orchestral repertoire, Mr. Andrus demonstrates exceptional artistry in both ensemble and solo contexts. His performance of the R. Vaughan Williams Concerto for Bass Tuba at UBC's Chan Center highlights his solo capabilities, while his recording on Hyperion Records (Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique with Utah Symphony Orchestra) showcases professional orchestral contributions.
