Dr. Jillian Craigie is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Ethics at King's College London, based in the Dickson Poon School of Law's Centre for Medical Law & Ethics. She holds a BSc from the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne, and a PhD from Monash University. Her research focuses on the intersection of philosophy, psychology, and law, particularly in moral psychology, legal capacity, and mental health policy. She has received funding from the Wellcome Trust and Nuffield Foundation, and previously served as a Senior Research Fellow at University College London.
Research Interests: Her work examines legal and ethical aspects of mental capacity, decision-making support for individuals with disabilities, and the role of emotion/reason in moral deliberation. Key themes include the impact of mental health conditions like anorexia and alcohol dependence on legal agency, and the application of UN human rights frameworks to healthcare ethics.
