معرفی
Jill Storry is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, with a focus on Transfusion Medicine and Red Blood Cell Biology. She works at the intersection of clinical laboratory science (KIT, Labmedicin Skåne) and molecular research, investigating blood group antigens and their genetic basis. Her roles include being an Adjunct Professor and Transfusion Medicine Researcher under StemTherapy, Sweden's stem cell initiative.
Research Interests: Human blood groups, SMIM1/Vel antigen function, malaria-parasite interactions with erythrocytes, red blood cell membrane proteins, and translational applications in transfusion safety. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals for health and well-being.
Recent Publications: Key contributions to ABO-incompatible plasma safety, SMIM1's metabolic role, and novel blood group systems like CD36 and EMP3. Articles appear in Blood Transfusion, Blood, and Med (New York, N.Y.) (2023-2025).
Scientific Awards:
- John J Moulds Memorial Award (2023)
- ISBT Award (2017)
- National Blood Foundation Scholar (2013)
- Sally Frank Award (2006)
- Kay Beattie Award (2000)
Supervision & Collaboration: Primary supervisor for Philaiphon Jongruamklang's malaria susceptibility research. Collaborates with Associate Professor Kristina Persson (Clinical Chemistry) and international teams on red blood cell-pathogen interactions.
Labs & Networks: Affiliated with KIT (Clinical Laboratory), StemTherapy, and the DBDS Genetic Consortium. Her research involves interdisciplinary teams in Sweden and global partners.
