Jill R. Bowers

Jill R. Bowers is an academic leader at Eastern Illinois University (EIU), serving as Lecturer in Human Services, Undergraduate Internship Coordinator, and Graduate Coordinator for the Human Services Program Administration. She concurrently holds administrative roles as Associate Dean in the College of Health and Human Services and Acting Chair of the Human Services Department. Her research focuses on family dynamics, developmental psychology, and transitional challenges faced by emerging adults. She is a Principal Investigator (PI) for an Illinois State Library-funded project to develop OER course content for HSL 2200.

Her scholarly work addresses topics like transitional instability's impact on substance use and sexual risk-taking, parental engagement in youth programs, and leadership development during adolescence. Bowers has authored/co-authored 14 peer-reviewed articles across journals including Current Psychology and Journal of Adolescent Research. She actively contributes to professional development through her Human Services Professional Development blog and has been featured in media discussing work ethic strategies.
