Jill Lindsey Harrison

Jill Lindsey Harrison is an Associate Professor of Geography at the University of Colorado-Boulder, with a Ph.D. from the University of California-Santa Cruz (2006). Her work sits at the intersection of Environmental Justice, Political Ecology, and Regulatory Culture, focusing on how government agencies perpetuate or challenge environmental inequalities through workplace culture and policy implementation.

Harrison’s research examines environmental and workplace inequalities in the U.S., particularly through political conflicts over agricultural pesticides in California and immigration enforcement in Wisconsin. Her recent projects analyze state-level cumulative impact laws and engineering-for-development programs, funded by the National Science Foundation and American Council of Learned Societies. Key publications include two books: From the Inside Out (MIT Press, 2019) and Pesticide Drift and the Pursuit of Environmental Justice (MIT Press, 2011), both award-winning. She co-founded CU Boulder’s Graduate Certificate in Environmental Justice and has advised numerous government agencies, including the U.S. EPA, on EJ reform.
