Jill Craven

Dr. Jill Craven is a Professor in the Department of English & World Languages at Millersville University, affiliated with the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and a B.S. in Mathematical Science/Computer Science from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on Film Studies, Critical Theory, Narrative Studies, and Women's Studies, with a particular interest in authors like Faulkner and theorists such as Foucault, Bakhtin, and Arendt. She teaches courses ranging from World Literature to Film History and serves as Chair of Gender Issues and Social Justice Committee, DEI Liaison, and Coordinator of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

Craven’s academic contributions include publications analyzing films like Crash and authors such as Roya Hakakian. She actively engages in community initiatives, organizing the Demystifying Dyslexia Conferences and advising clubs like Sigma Tau Delta and the Ciné Club. Her recent awards include the Lori Souder Award for LGBTQ+ Advocacy (2023) and grants supporting interdisciplinary projects and student engagement at events like the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
