Jill Blackmore

Professor Jill Blackmore is the Deakin Distinguished Professor and Professor of Education at Deakin University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Education/School of Education. Her research explores the intersection of globalization, educational restructuring, and equity, focusing on gender reform, school autonomy, international education, and organizational democracy.

• Current projects include The Geopolitics of Transnational Student Mobility (ARC DP220100552, $355,586) and Attracting and Retaining a Culturally Diverse Teacher Workforce (ARC LP230200802, $469,722).
• She has led significant grants, such as school autonomy reform (ARC DP190100190, $343,972) and international students in secondary schools (ARC DP160103181, $318,332).

Her recent publications analyze workplace violence in schools, global competence in curricula, and the ethics of academic professions. Key awards include the Order of Australia (2017), Alfred Deakin Professor (2012), and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences of Australia (2013). She has supervised over 25 doctoral students and led institutional reforms at Deakin University.

Professor Blackmore actively collaborates internationally, with projects in Vietnam, Denmark, and the U.S., and contributes to policy through reports on learning spaces, teacher incentives, and international education frameworks.
