Dr. Jill Alexa Perry is a full Professor of Practice in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh, serving as Director of the Doctor of Education (EdD) program and Executive Director of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). She holds a PhD in International Education Policy from the University of Maryland, along with an MA in Higher Education Administration and a BA in Spanish/International Studies from Boston College. Her research focuses on professional doctorate preparation, organizational change in higher education, and the role of improvement science in EdD programs.
Dr. Perry has led initiatives such as the CPED consortium of 135+ institutions redesigning EdD programs to emphasize practitioner-focused scholarship. She has authored books like Reclaiming the Education Doctorate and The Improvement Science Dissertation in Practice, and her work addresses evidence-based leadership and program redesign. Her grants include $500K from the WT Grant Foundation (2017-2019) and a $700K FIPSE grant (2010-2013).
