Dr. Jie Zhang is an Associate Professor at Trinity University with joint appointments in Chinese, East Asian Studies, and International Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Chinese and Comparative Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, an M.A. in Contemporary Chinese Literature from Peking University, and a B.A. in Chinese Languages and Literature from Beijing Normal University.
Her research explores Chinese and transnational cinemas, late imperial Chinese literature, and contemporary digital culture. Current projects include translating Eileen Chang's stories and a book manuscript on Chinese internet culture. Her scholarship bridges historical texts with modern media expressions, examining geopolitics, gender representation, and cultural adaptation across periods.
