Jie Shan serves as the Reilly Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University's College of Engineering with primary appointment in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering. Her institutional affiliations include:

- Courtesy Appointment in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS)
Her research focuses on geospatial technologies within civil infrastructure systems, integrating sustainability principles with environmental monitoring applications. The Geomatics Group (GSML) serves as her primary research unit, developing spatial data methodologies for engineering solutions.
