Jie Liu is the George Barth Geller Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Duke University, affiliated with the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and Pratt School of Engineering. His research focuses on nanoscale materials chemistry, plasmonic catalysis, and energy conversion. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and degrees from Shandong University. Recent work emphasizes synergistic thermal and nonthermal effects in plasmonic systems, CO₂ reduction, and nanomaterial synthesis. Notable grants include NSF-funded projects on plasmonic catalysts and material design training programs. He leads a research group advancing sustainable energy technologies through cutting-edge nanomaterial innovations.
