Dr. Jidong Fang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Penn State, with a focus on sleep neuroscience and its clinical applications. He is affiliated with the Penn State Neuroscience Institute and the Division of Sleep Medicine. His research integrates EEG biomarkers, neuroimmunology, and neuropharmacology to study sleep regulation, addiction, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
His current active project (2024-2029) investigates developmental trajectories of sleep EEG biomarkers in relation to psychopathology risk in young adulthood. Prior grants include developing automated systems for sleep deprivation studies in rodents.
Dr. Fang's work spans 87 publications since 1994, with recent emphasis on cocaine-seeking behaviors linked to REM sleep, ADHD biomarkers in adolescents, and pharmacological modulation of sleep patterns. His research has been cited over 5,300 times, reflecting significant impact in sleep medicine and neuroscience.
