Dr Jianying Han is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB), University of Queensland. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from Griffith University. Her research focuses on discovering bioactive natural products from microbes and fungi to combat antibiotic resistance, with specializations in antimicrobial, antiparasitic, and antimalarial drug discovery. She has pioneered methods integrating genomics, mass spectrometry, and NMR fingerprinting for rapid natural product identification. Key contributions include discovering heartworm inhibitors from Australian soil microbes, anti-TB agents from actinomycetes, and anti-inflammatory sesterterpenoids from phytopathogenic fungi.
Dr Han collaborates with institutions like Griffith University and the Binzhou Medical University, presenting at major conferences such as the Gordon Research Conference and the RACI Natural Products Symposium. She advises a PhD student in antibiotic discovery and contributes to initiatives like the IMB Centre for Chemistry and Drug Discovery. Her work bridges microbial genomics and chemical biology, advancing strategies for combating drug-resistant pathogens.
