Jian-Min Yuan

Jian-Min Yuan serves as Professor and Arnold Palmer Endowed Chair in Cancer Prevention at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, where he co-leads the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Program. He holds primary faculty status in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on translational research in cancer etiology and prevention through large-scale epidemiological investigations.

His educational foundation includes:

• MPH in Public Health/Epidemiology (1986) from Shanghai Medical University
• PhD in Epidemiology (1996) from University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine

Dr. Yuan's research centers on molecular epidemiology of environmental and dietary carcinogens, with pioneering work on aflatoxin-induced liver/gallbladder cancer, tobacco nitrosamine metabolism in lung carcinogenesis, and chemopreventive properties of cruciferous vegetables. His methodologies emphasize biomarker development and longitudinal cohort analysis in Asian populations, bridging laboratory findings with population health outcomes through prospective study designs.

Publication trends reveal consistent focus on lung and liver cancer mechanisms, evolving from foundational cohort establishment in the 1980s-90s to contemporary clinical translation.
