Jiacheng Ma is a PhD Research Fellow in the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education at the University of Agder (UiA), actively contributing to the Physical Activity and Health across the LifeSpan (PAHLS) research group and the INDEEP MSCA doctoral network.
His academic qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronic Information Engineering
- Master's degree in Human Movement Science
Ma's research uniquely bridges engineering and exercise science to develop advanced algorithms for physical activity classification using accelerometer technology. His work addresses critical limitations in current monitoring systems by creating more accurate methods to identify activity types and intensities, with direct applications for public health improvement. His expertise spans sensor technology implementation, data analysis programming, and understanding exercise-health relationships, particularly cardiac benefits of aerobic activity.
Funded through the INDEEP MSCA doctoral network, Ma operates within a collaborative European research framework without current student supervision responsibilities. His work focuses on translating technical innovations into practical health monitoring solutions.
He is embedded in the PAHLS research group, which investigates physical activity impacts across all life stages through interdisciplinary approaches combining technology development, exercise physiology, and public health research.
