معرفی
Dr. Jiabi Du is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marine and Coastal Environmental Science at Texas A&M University at Galveston. His research focuses on coastal ocean responses to sea-level rise, climate change, and extreme weather events, with emphasis on hypoxia, flooding, habitat loss, and pollutant dispersion using observational analysis and numerical modeling.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William and Mary (2017)
- M.S. in Oceanography, Nanjing University (2012)
- B.S. in Physical Geography, Nanjing University (2010)
Research Interests: Dr. Du's work integrates physical oceanography with environmental challenges, examining hydrodynamic processes in coastal systems, pollutant transport during extreme events, and ecosystem impacts of climate change. His research employs advanced computational models and field data analysis to address critical issues in marine environments.
Publication Trends: Recent articles (2022-2025) demonstrate a strong focus on microplastic pollution dynamics, hydrodynamic responses to hurricanes, machine learning applications in oceanography, and climate-driven changes in coastal systems. Key themes include pollutant transport modeling, estuarine ecosystem vulnerability, and innovative monitoring techniques.
Awards:
- Best student paper, Virginia Institute of Marine Science (2019)
- Institutional Postdoc Fellowship, Texas A&M (2017)
- Outstanding Graduate Award, Nanjing University (2010)
- Multiple scholarships from Nanjing University (2007-2009)
Dr. Du mentors students in quantitative analysis and computational methods while emphasizing practical applications in environmental problem-solving.
