Dr. Jia Ying Neoh is a Lecturer at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, specializing in Humanities and Social Sciences Education and the Master of Teaching Foundations. She holds a BA and DipEd from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), MEd from the University of Melbourne, and PhD from the University of Sydney. Her work bridges comparative education research with practical pedagogy development in diverse socio-cultural contexts.
Her research critically examines global citizenship education through lenses of universalism versus particularism, focusing on ASEAN-Australia relations, regional citizenship, and inclusive pedagogy. Key themes include the sociopolitical dimensions of curriculum design, digital citizenship competencies, and intercultural understanding in increasingly polarized societies. She employs mixed-methods approaches across international contexts to analyze how teachers conceptualize citizenship in globalization.
Publications (2019-2024) demonstrate strong emphasis on citizenship education policy-practice gaps, democratic education amid nationalism, and technology's role in civic learning. Recent works explore AI literacy as digital citizenship and comparative studies of Asian and Australian educational frameworks. Methodological diversity includes case studies, discourse analysis, and cross-national surveys.
