Jessie Levey (she/her) is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Dance at Vassar College, affiliated with the Dance Department since 2024. She is the founder and director of Barefoot Dance Center in New York’s Hudson Valley, focusing on somatic practices, creativity, and identity in teaching. Her work spans K-12 schools, universities, and senior centers through artist-in-residence programs and international workshops.

Levey actively contributes to the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), participating in the Dance 2050 think tank and publishing research in their journals. She co-founded the annual Student Dance Summit (2023) at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park. Her performance background includes work with choreographers Nadra Assaf, Dani Nikas, and Risa Jaroslow, alongside her own choreography performed globally.
Recipient of NDEO’s 2023 Outstanding Leadership Award, Levey integrates yoga certification and somatic education into her pedagogy, emphasizing holistic student development.
