Jessica Zinz-Cheresnick

Jessica Zinz-Cheresnick is an Associate Professor at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in the College of Arts and Sciences, affiliated with the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program. She has held leadership roles as Director of Creative Writing Undergraduate Studies and Associate Director in the University Writing Program.

Jessica's research focuses on hybrid creative writing forms, visual poetry, and art-based pedagogy. Her recent creative work includes word-image collage, found poetry, and comic-style hybrid forms, published in venues such as Tab Journal, RHINO Magazine, and Harpy Hybrid Review. She emphasizes contemplative pedagogy, anti-racist teaching, and media literacy in her courses on writing and creative practice.

Her teaching philosophy prioritizes holistic student engagement, emotional balance, and the integration of writing as an art and way of life. She actively promotes inclusive education through diverse course content and assessment methods.
