Dr Jessica Winterson is a Research Associate in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York. Her work focuses on mental health interventions in criminal justice settings and gambling policy development.
- PhD in Popular Music and Politics from University of Huddersfield
- MA in Art and Politics from Goldsmiths, University of London
- BA (Hons) in Politics from University of Leeds
Her research explores the effectiveness of peer-led interventions for mental health support in prisons, particularly through the AMICABLE project. She also investigates gambling policy development, informed by her professional experience as an adviser on the National Gambling Helpline and roles in drug and alcohol services.
Jessica works on the Addressing Mental Health in Custody a Brief Learning Environment (AMICABLE) project, a peer-led intervention program designed to improve mental health and well-being in prison settings. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams within the Mental Health and Addiction research group.
