Jessica Williams is an Imperial College Research Fellow in the Department of Life Sciences (Silwood Park) at Imperial College London. She holds honorary and visiting roles at University College London and the University of Reading. Her research focuses on biodiversity responses to global change drivers, particularly landscape permeability for species critical to human health and food systems. She completed a PhD at UCL (2017-2021) and an MSc at Imperial College (2015-2016), with a BSc from the University of Exeter (2011-2014).
- Key roles: Sustainability Champion, EDI Committee Member, and Mental Health First Aider at Silwood Park
- Professional service: BES Conservation Ecology SIG ECR Rep, Landscape Ecology UK committee member
Research interests includeAnthropocene landscapes, zoonotic disease risk mitigation, and AI-assisted conservation monitoring. Her work bridges ecological theory and applied conservation, with a focus on climate-land use interactions affecting species' survival and ecosystem services.
Her recent publications analyze bumblebee occupancy patterns, pollinator resilience in agroecosystems, and vertebrate responses to environmental changes. She collaborates internationally on projects like InsectAI for AI-driven insect monitoring and NERC-funded biodiversity modeling initiatives.
Awards include the Imperial College Research Fellowship and European Talent Academy recognition for transdisciplinary water-food security projects. She actively engages in outreach through STEM mentoring, school talks, and the CBER Lunchbox Podcast.
