David Orme is an Advanced Research Fellow at the Department of Life Sciences (Silwood Park), Imperial College London, within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on ecological modeling and understanding biodiversity patterns through data-driven approaches. He collaborates on projects like the SAFE Project, Virtual Ecosystem model development, and the Lemontree Project for next-generation biosphere models. He leads the pyrealm package development for biosphere modeling frameworks.
His work integrates field data from tropical rainforests in Borneo with advanced computational tools, such as the MAARU acoustic monitoring system. Research interests include ecosystem resilience, habitat fragmentation impacts, and zoonotic disease dynamics in wildlife. Key affiliations include the Georgina Mace Centre for the Living Planet and Silwood Park Campus.
Publications emphasize ecosystem modeling, fungal symbiosis, and acoustic ecology, reflecting his focus on bridging empirical fieldwork with theoretical models. His contributions advance global conservation strategies through interdisciplinary approaches.
