Jessica Thompson is a Lecturer in Clinical and Professional Practice at Keele University's School of Allied Health Professions and Pharmacy. She completed her pharmacy degree and PhD at Keele and currently supervises DPharm and PhD students. Her roles include MPharm Programme Director and involvement in the Faculty Health Professional Education Research Theme and EDI Athena Swan Committee.
Research Interests: Her work focuses on pharmacist and patient education, technology-driven innovations in healthcare training, and shared decision-making in clinical consultations. She develops tools like interactive avatars and virtual patients for competency-based assessments and collaborates with institutions like NICE to train healthcare professionals.
Teaching: She teaches Law, Ethics, Clinical Therapeutics, and symptom-based pharmacy practice to undergraduate and postgraduate students, emphasizing real-world application through simulations.
Publications & Awards: Her recent publications highlight shared decision-making frameworks, arts integration in pharmacy education, and virtual patient systems. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
