معرفی
Jessica Theodor is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary, serving as Director of the Biological Sciences Collections. She holds a B.Sc. in Palaeontology from the University of Toronto (1989) and a Ph.D. in Paleontology from the University of California (1996). Her research focuses on understanding organismal diversity patterns over geologic time, particularly in ungulates, linking climate change impacts with morphological evolution. She explores how intrinsic factors like phylogeny influence responses to environmental shifts. Her work integrates fossil records with molecular and physiological data from living species.
Research Interests:
- Climate-driven biodiversity changes in Cenozoic mammals
- Morphological evolution in Cetartiodactyla
- Feeding ecology and dietary reconstructions using dental wear analysis
- Functional anatomy of the ear and skull in mammals
Awards & Honors:
- 2021 Teaching Award, University of Calgary
- 2015 Meierjurgen Fellowship, University of Oregon
- 2006–2011 University Faculty Award, NSERC
Grants & Advising:
Recipient of NSERC funding for ecological and evolutionary studies. Advised multiple graduate students on projects involving fossil analysis and biomechanics. Notable collaborations include work on Pleistocene equids and Miocene climatic impacts on ungulates.
Labs & Teams:
Leads the Theodor Lab, focusing on vertebrate paleontology and morphological evolution. Collaborates with international teams on projects such as the Cypress Hills Formation faunal analysis and dental microwear studies.
