Jessica Shurson is Assistant Professor in Law at University of Sussex, specializing in cybercrime law and digital surveillance. Her research examines jurisdictional conflicts in transnational digital investigations, particularly law enforcement access to encrypted data.
Current work analyzes tensions between privacy rights, encryption technologies, and cross-border evidence gathering. She addresses conflicts between EU data protection frameworks and US surveillance laws through comparative legal analysis.
Book Reviews Editor for the International Journal of Law & Information Technology and affiliate of the Sussex Centre for Law and Technology. Prior experience includes eight years as prosecutor specializing in cybercrime and crimes against children.
