معرفی
Jessica Rae is a Lecturer at the School of Landscape Architecture, Lincoln University, New Zealand. She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) from Lincoln University and a Master of Science with Honours (MSc(Hons)) from the University of Waikato. Her interdisciplinary research integrates landscape architecture, material culture, and site hermeneutics to investigate human-landscape relationships through creative practice and design-centric methodologies.
Her research focuses on developing innovative tools for landscape interpretation, assessment, and intervention, drawing from geomorphology, engineering geology, anthropology, and conservation planning. Current PhD work critiques conventional landscape assessment models and pioneers co-design strategies to enhance landscape identity and community engagement.
Teaching Responsibilities:
Jessica serves as examiner for four courses:
- Advanced Site Engineering & Design Detailing (LASC 621)
- Design Details (LASC 217)
- Land Surfaces, Water and Structures (ENGN 106)
- Visual Communication (DESN 103)
Her publications concentrate on two primary themes: (1) pedagogical adaptations in landscape architecture education during crises, particularly emergency remote teaching transitions during COVID-19; and (2) embodied methodologies like walking as tools for landscape discovery and design innovation. Research consistently bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in environmental design.
