Dr. Jessica Northey is Assistant Professor Research at Coventry University's Centre for Peace and Security. Her scholarship examines civil society's role in democratic processes, with regional expertise in Algeria and Madagascar. Northey directs projects on climate-agriculture interactions in North Africa and youth peacebuilding initiatives. She authored 'Civil Society in Algeria' (I.B.Tauris, 2018) and leads the Generation Peace podcast series. As BISA working group co-convenor and Oxford Analytica country specialist, she analyzes protest movements and resource governance conflicts.
Her applied research includes electoral observation missions for Commonwealth Secretariat and policy evaluations for World Bank. Current fieldwork investigates climate vulnerability in smallholder farming systems and intersectional activism strategies.
